The Casitas Municipal Water District is an independent special district that provides both wholesale and retail water to municipal and individual customers in the District and recreation at Lake Casitas, a reservoir operated by the District. Formed in 1956, the District is governed by a five member board of directors. The boundary and sphere of influence of the District are co-terminus. The District extends from the Los Padres National Forest boundary north of Ojai to the Pacific Ocean along both sides of the Ventura River drainage, and extends to the Santa Barbara County line along the Rincon. The District includes the City of Ojai, the unincorporated communities of Meiners Oaks, Oak View and Casitas Springs, and the westerly portion of the City of Ventura. </SPAN></P></DIV></DIV></DIV>

The data was compiled from records in the Ventura County Surveyor Office. Created in the ComputerVision CADDs software. In 1998, the data was converted into GIS using ESRI software and has been maintained since using various ESRI software.
Data was created in a CAD system using information from legal documents and the parcel and centerline GIS layers to position features. Conversion to GIS format was performed in 2001. The Information Systems Department maintains current and historical information in Arc/Info coverage format and exports the most current information to shapefile format for general use on the "L" drive.
Data from the ArcInfo database was converted into Oracle SDE database. The data is no longer being supported in shapefiles. The data being shared through a File Geodatabase shared on the GIS Drive (L:). The data is also being shared through the County HUB site for public download.
Shapefiles would get corrupted, the move to FGDB was for data integrity and support. Moving to the HUB site will remove the FGDB support once completed.

Data have not been plot checked, however are subject to continual validation during use by LAFCO and other county staff.
Review Status
Features were registered to the parcel and centerline layers which have varying levels of accuracy based on the record and control data available in a particular area. Accuracy is within plus or minus two feet in city areas and populated areas along the the major transportation routes in the county. In unincorporated areas such as Ventu Park, Santa Susana Knolls, and Greenwich Village the accuracy is within plus or minus two to ten feet. Data within the Los Padres National Forest and the area north of the City of San Buenaventura and northwest of the City of Santa Paula have an accuracy of plus or minus ten feet or more.
General Accuracy Statement
The current boundary has not been realigned to the parcel polygons. The parcels were converted into the parcel fabric in 2019 and put into production in July of 2020. The parcel fabric is maintained by the Ventura County Assessor's Office.
