Description: A new State law (SB 1462) requires Cities and Counties to inform the Military of local land use proposals that might have an impact on military facilities and operations, in order to prevent land use conflicts between local communities and military installations and training facilities. Specifically, the bill amended Government Code Sections 65352, 65404, 65940, and 65944, and required local governments to notify the Military when a proposed project, or an updated or revised General Plan, might have an impact on military facilities and operations (i.e. the proposed project is within 1,000 feet of a military installation, beneath a low-level flight path, within special use airspace, etc.)
